The Silicon Valley of the North
Waterloo is a city situated an hour’s drive away from Toronto, Canada’s largest city, and Niagara Falls, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. It is often called the “Silicon Valley of the North” as it is the home of numerous leading technology companies such as Google, BlackBerry and Shopify.
Waterloo hosts thousands of students from across the country who attend Wilfrid Laurier University, the University of Waterloo, and Conestoga College. The city’s rich cultural diversity offers visitors a unique blend of intriguing restaurants, boutique stores, galleries and nightlife. Waterloo’s German roots are demonstrated through the city’s Oktoberfest, the largest one located outside of Germany.
